At-Home Eveline Ovulation Test

Using the AI powered Eveline Ovulation Test with ARMS

In our ongoing efforts to help patients manage their own fertility care, ARMS encourages certain patients to utilize the Eveline Ovulation Test kit – the first such test powered by artificial intelligence (AI). Tracking ovulation is essential for individuals in their efforts to achieve pregnancy and by our fertility specialists to time procedures like intrauterine insemination (IUI).

The Eveline Ovulation Test allows patients to immediately send us the results of their test via the Eveline smartphone application. We believe this will help further improve success in treatments we provide as well as our patients ability to conceive on their own.

Why we use Eveline’s ovulation test kit

While there are other ovulation predictor kits out there, we recommend Eveline for several reasons.

  • It is the first such app to use AI, allowing for more individualized information.
  • The patient’s results can be immediately sent to us.
  • It reads luteinizing hormone (LH) accurately.
  • It is less confusing than alternatives.
  • The cost is similar to others.
  • Eveline has a good supply chain, so we know the product will always be available to our patients.

How this at-home ovulation test works

The Eveline Ovulation Test has test strips that help build a profile of the woman’s LH cycle. To take an LH reading, the woman removes a strip out of its packaging and the cap, then places the tip into her urine stream for five seconds.

The smart scanner allows a smartphone camera to analyze the ovulation test data to provide personalized fertility insights into the user’s optimal fertility window. It also offers menstrual cycle predictions and alerts. This ovulation test gives accurate information to women to help them on their pregnancy journey.

The AI algorithm used by Eveline adjusts to the individual and tracks the LH surge (see below) and other health metrics. This allows it to identify the woman’s individual cycle to maximize chances of pregnancy success. Using the test over multiple cycles helps hone the AI algorithm to the woman’s unique fertility window.

ARMS will guide patients on when to use the Eveline test.

The importance of the LH surge & the fertility window

The fertility window is the time frame during which a woman is most likely to conceive. Since sperm can survive in the reproductive tract for up to seven days and the released egg survives for about 24 hours, the fertility window typically covers a span of seven days. Many women do not have typical menstrual cycles (see below).

But in general, the fertility window includes the days leading up to and including the day of ovulation. The most fertile days are the two days leading up to ovulation and the day of ovulation. This can be predicted through analysis of the surge in the LH hormone, which the Eveline test does.

LH surge triggers ovulation

LH levels surge significantly in a woman’s body from about 24-36 hours before ovulation. Understanding LH surges and the fertility window is crucial for couples who are trying to conceive. LH plays a key role in ovulation because the surge triggers the release of an egg from the dominant follicle. This indicates the optimal time for fertilization, which occurs in the fallopian tube where the mature egg travels and where sperm reaches it.

The Eveline Ovulation Test detects the presence of the LH hormone in urine samples. With ovulation likely to occur within the next 24 to 36 hours, this is the best time for intercourse to increase the chances of conception.

Variations in LH surge

As noted, LH surges can vary in duration and intensity among different women. So, the best way for women to use the Eveline test is starting several days before an anticipated LH surge and one day after the onset of the LH surge, allowing them to accurately track ovulation. Once they have a baseline record, they can narrow the time frame on when to use the test.

Other methods such as tracking basal body temperature, cervical mucus changes, or using blood tests or transvaginal ultrasounds can complement ovulation test kits in determining the fertile window.

LH test for improved fertility

ARMS can use data from the Eveline Ovulation Test to time an IUI procedure, which otherwise might need to be instituted by triggering medications. Many women and couples want to reduce their use of such medications, and the at-home test kit can help in this regard.

Understanding a woman’s LH surge can also help our specialists detect other issues. This can help us understand what is causing infertility issues and the cause of irregular periods affecting fertility. LH tests can also assess for pituitary disorders.

How to use the Eveline Ovulation Test

Patients need to first purchase the test and download the Eveline app from the Apple App Store or Google Play. After registering an account, the user will take a brief survey that helps calibrate the AI algorithm for the individual.

Steps for using the Eveline Ovulation Test kit

Following are the steps to take, which are also explained in this instructional video.

  • Remove the ovulation test strip and its cap.
  • Position the tip of the strip into the urine stream for five seconds, making sure it is fully saturated by urine.
  • Take the LH reading then use the app’s smart scanner to scan the test strip using the smartphone’s camera.
  • The app will analyze the data and provide personalized fertility insights, including optimal fertility windows, cycle predictions and risk alerts.
  • Because LH levels fluctuate daily, women should repeat the process daily during their menstrual cycle.

The app instantly lets the user know her ovulation status and records the reading. It should be set to send ARMS the results, which is one reason why we are supporting it. Other helpful features can remind the user when to take another test reading. It can even alert the woman’s partner of the results in order to arrange a good time for intimate relations.
